Description

Position is responsible for the performance of a variety of semi-skilled and non-technical work in the general upkeep and continual maintenance of all Church-owned facilities, buildings, equipment and property, including mechanical and building systems, custodial services, grounds keeping, materials management and general construction. Ensure property operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Performs maintenance of services related to campus facility utilization, repairs, construction, preventive maintenance, and emergency preparedness in accordance with Church vision.
  • Partners with third-party vendors, contractors and volunteers, supporting job completion in accordance with appropriate specifications and timeline.
  • Collaborates with internal and external personnel for the purposes of coordinating activities and programs, resolving issues, and communicating information relative to assigned functions and related matters.
  • Performs documented schedule of preventive maintenance for all equipment and facilities, referring to related documents such as user manuals, reference tools and warranty information, as needed or appropriate.
  • Adheres to all health, environmental and occupational safety laws, rules and best practices, as required or recommended by law or industry standard, participating in investigations as necessary.
  • Participates in regular inspections and compliance activities in accordance with approved policies and procedures, working with emergency medical, fire and police personnel, inspectors and other public officials as necessary, ensuring regulatory compliance and proper documentation.
  • Supports the facilities use and reservation process, ensuring timely coordinator of facilities requests and meeting with event personnel as necessary.
  • Participates in appropriate committee meetings, workshops, seminars and other planned functions to enhance success of capital projects.
  • Attends ministry and program meetings, events and functions, as requested or directed.
  • Other as deemed necessary by management.

Requirements

  • College, vocational or technical training and/or education preferred.
  • Minimum five years' experience in facilities maintenance, major building trades or a related position.
  • Knowledge of complex plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry and other skilled trades.
  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety standard, regulations, and practices.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with Church staff, parishioners, vendors, committees and contractors.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to relay technical ideas and concepts to others outside the profession.
  • Ability to resolve conflict in an efficient, professional and Christ-like manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, field reports and related schematics.
  • Basic technological skills, including computer software, internet and mobile telecommunications programs and applications, and willingness to learn.
  • Meet position occupational demands and fitness-for-duty requirements.

  • Involves extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds required.
  • Involves a work environment with exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require application of basic safety precautions.
