FHA POSITION DESCRIPTION – Leasing Clerk
TITLE: Leasing Clerk
CATEGORY: Salary based upon35HourWork Week (Full-Time)

WAGE RATE: Starting at $29.67 per hour $54,000.00 Annual.
PROBATION PERIOD: Six Months from Date of Hire, (Can be Continued if Mgt. Directs)
Fair Labor Standards Act: Non-Exempt (Subject to Change if Required by Law)
Position Summary: The Full-Time Leasing Clerk – assists with property management, leasing, and lease enforcement for the FHA’s public housing (family & elderly) and its community-based housing programs. This includes background and CORI checks, reviewing landlord references, entering, and retrieving applications from CHAMP as well as filing and retrieving applications. Other duties include ensuring tenants and program participants are adhering to their lease, program requirements, working with maintenance staff on work order issues, preparing tenant lease recertification process, and duties relating to interacting with clients who visit the housing offices. This position reports directly to the Director of Public & Community Housing or, in his or her absence, the Deputy Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Certification & Re-Certification Process & Assist in Making Eligibility Determinations
2. Ensuring Lease and Program Provisions enforcement and assisting with eviction process.
3. Review Work Orders
4. Working with Maintenance to Ensure Cleanliness of Property and Units
5. Maintain Tenant and Program Files
6. Implement FHA Property Management Policies such as Smoking and Parking
7. Perform CORI, WAGE MATCH and other applicant or Tenant background verifications.
8. All other duties as deemed fit by Management.
REPORTING & SUPERVISOR RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Assistant Director of Housing or, in his or her absence, the Director of Housing.
ASSIGNED FHA SECTION: Operations Sector in the Housing Department and its various locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the ability to walk and traverse rental units, hallways and offices and walk up and down stairs and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to sit stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and crouch. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. Position requires the ability to communicate with tenants, applicants, and staff.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
1. Intermediate skill level with Excel, Word, and Power Point
2. Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
3. Possess a High School Diploma
4. MPHA Certification or the ability to obtain MPHA Certification within 12 (twelve) months of hire
5. Successfully pass a drug screen, physical exam, CORI and employment background check
Must maintain confidentiality of all programs and work relate duties.
English-Spanish Bilingual preferred but not required.
