Five Star Equipment has an exciting opportunity for a SERVICE MANAGER for our busy Rochester, NY location. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced professional to join our team. Working under the guidance of the Corporate Service Operations Manager, the Service Manager is responsible for the administration of product support strategies, policies, procedures and best practices.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- Sets the standard for conduct within the department, promote positive proactive attitude and cooperate with all company employees, vendors and customers.
- Responsible for all employees working in the Service department. Will ensure worked hours are logged and accounted for.
- Ensures department’s work orders are complete and submitted timely within 5 days of work completion.
- Must understand and apply proper departmental accounting procedures related to purchase orders, work orders, chart of accounts, invoices, parts lists, vendor accounts receivable, etc., and when questions exist, get help from Corporate Accounting department.
- Works with branch personnel to resolve customer service complaints, which are to be handled in a professional and courteous manner.
- Shall reference the service month end report to evaluate the department’s revenue recovery performance.
- Shall enroll Service Technicians in mandatory training whether through John Deere, or other on –line sources.
- Ensure warranty claims are opened, filed and handled in accordance to established company and John Deere policy.
- Shall quote fair and accurate flat rate hourly quotes for Service Technicians in accordance with company policy.
- Complete Service Technician work summary sheets in order to determine individual performance or identify issues.
- Promote a safe departmental culture. Enforce the department team in wearing all issued personal protective equipment.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment. Correct instances of unsafe behavior & practices and carelessness.
- Conduct formal scheduled or informal performance reviews on the employees under their supervision.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years’ experience as foreman or supervisor leading and motivating small teams in heavy equipment, construction, etc.
- Must have a solid foundation of equipment parts and prior experience working as a technician or mechanic.
- Understands constraints facing his/her branch employees such as time, work conditions, physical demands, etc.
- Ability to use software applications such as the CDK business system, Microsoft Office and Internet functions.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours as well as work in various demanding environmental conditions.
- Excellent communication and relationship skills. Can equitably solve problems whether conceptual or concrete in nature.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean motor vehicle record.
