About The Role

Fivetran Finance ensures the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. This role is an exciting position that demands excellence in technical skills, execution, communication and a proven track record of addressing complex tax matters promptly and accurately. The Tax Manager keeps Fivetran compliant, crafts and owns scalable financial processes, educates stakeholders on complex topics, and acts as a financial linchpin for the organization.

You will be responsible for leading all aspects of Fivetran’s tax function, including federal, state, and international income tax filings, tax provisions, annual audits, sales tax reporting and remittance, and strategic tax planning. You will be expected to identify opportunities to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

This role will report to the Controller and work closely with the broader Finance team and key external partners. You should expect to play a meaningful role in building and sustaining - a world class, automation-forward, finance team.

The position in Oakland offers a flexible remote hybrid arrangement.

What You’ll Do

• Oversight of our core tax and compliance responsibilities, including annual income taxes, sales and use tax, local business taxes, employee-facing taxes, and has international experience.
• Managing the relationship and workflow with outside tax consultants, advisors, and strategic partners
• Finding opportunities for efficiency improvements and driving implementation of the solutions
• Educating cross-functional teams about tax risk and issues/opportunities arising from our transactions
• Supporting new and existing research and products by working cross-functionally to manage risk and build and maintain scalable tax processes
• Research, analyze, document, and share the latest developments in global tax legislation and their accompanying impact on Fivetran
  
  
  

Skills We’re Looking For

• 8 years of relevant experience at some combination of public accounting firm, private company, or start-up, showing progressive complexity in scope and responsibilities
• As a CPA or CA, you will possess a comprehensive understanding of preparing the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.
• Experience in implementing and maintaining compliance of SOX controls
• Understanding of the IPO readiness process and their experience/involvement in IPO readiness activities.
• Experience working with International accounting teams Global/International Tax
• Handled intercompany transactions between different countries, particularly in a SaaS environment
• Strong project management skills encompassing attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and lead high priority tasks on concurrent timelines
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to translate complex concepts across multiple audiences
• Experience working with modern software and systems, particularly NetSuite and Avalara

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Our job titles may span more than one career level. This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits, if applicable.

$154,000—$192,500 USD
