Through an evidenced-based home visiting program, the parent educator/home visitor will provide voluntary, family-centered services for parents, families, and caregivers prenatal through age five. The home visiting program emphasizes parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being through using the four model components of personal visits, group connections, resource networking, and child screening.
Provide personal home visits to families on their assigned caseload using the program instructional curriculum-based activities, methods, and materials.
Provide early detection and developmental screening services to children zero to five years of age as well as during pregnancy.
Complete assessments for caregivers and families and provide resource connections as needed.
Participate in group connections and events as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of community resources and organizations.
Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the professional field of social work.
Knowledge of the methods, practices, and procedures of case management.
Knowledge of the psycho-social aspects of public health disciplines.
Skills and Abilities:
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions of a professional nature.
Skill in interviewing techniques, listening, facilitating problem solving, and crisis intervention.
Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public, staff, and other professional people contracted in the course of work.
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree required; or equivalent professional level work experience; or any combination of training and experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed. One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education given that it is in the same field.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a current Montana Driver’s License. Employee must have the ability to lift and carry 40 pounds and be able to negotiate stairs.
