To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a EHS Engineer located in Salt Lake City, UT

Reporting to the EHS Director, the EHS Engineer oversees developing, implementing and monitoring company environmental health and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Accident-free, healthy work.

  • 2nd SHIFT 2:30pm-11:00pm**

What a typical day looks like:

  • The primary function of the position is to help create a culture that identifies, eliminates, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using safety standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques long with behavior-based safety programs
  • Support with Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability reporting and compliance.
  • “Champion” the Safety Committee and act as a resource for Kaizen events.
  • Emergency Response Team Leader and responsible for leading cross-functional safety teams.
  • Day-to-day activities and communications regarding EHS.
  • Provide support to manufacturing staff and focus on safety awareness, prevention, and training.
  • Assist site management in implementing EHS programs and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and disseminate a variety of safety information and training topics.
  • Coordinate training program for EHS related topics.
  • Meet compliance and reporting requirements of federal &/or state regulations.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, and other EHS compliance
  • Meet all site required documentation related to safety (i.e. accident reports, inspection reports, root cause analysis, etc.).
  • Maintain the track of EHS key performance indicators.
  • Manage risk prevention activities include incidents, emergencies, or other unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate audits: EHS, IH – chemical, ergonomics and noise, Loss Control Incident Investigation, etc.
  • Implement Zero Waste to Landfill to meet UL certification requirements.
  • Work with cross functional team on safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular review of existing EHS programs to maintain regulatory and corporate compliance
  • Direct and organize EHS-related projects for the site
  • Examines plans and specifications for existing and new machinery or equipment to define if all safety precautions that are required for safe operation
  • Perform complete Machinery Risk Assessments including reviewing the design for employee safety, and other concerns including but not limited to people and fire safety.
  • Serves as EHS Support to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and chemical safety matters.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding workplace health and safety related matters.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in Engineering Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
  • Prior experience 2 years in EHS within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety in the workplace. Demonstrates functional skills.
  • Demonstrates basic functional process knowledge and participates in process. Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: telephones, data entry, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation package.
  • Emergency medical certification and Hazmat desired.
  • Manufacturing previous experience (Preferred)
  • Safety Certifications (Preferred)
  • Specific program experience i.e. Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Safety, Risk Assessments (JHA, JSA, RA), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and Arial Work Platforms (AWP), Hearing Conservation, Working at Heights, Incident Analysis (Fishbone, 5-Why)
  • Ability to work effectively with others
