Job Description

The Manager, Imaging Services oversees the daily operations, personnel, and processes within the department to ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging services. This includes managing staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, optimizing workflows, and ensuring that patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in radiological imaging, and a focus on delivering patient-centered care.

Responsibilities :

Operational Management :

  • Oversee the daily operations of radiology services, including diagnostic imaging (X-ray and MRI).
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient workflows and adherence to industry standards.
  • Monitor and ensure optimal utilization of equipment and resources.
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to coordinate imaging services for patient care.
  • Manages each group of imaging technicians at all locations by ensuring that priorities in work assignments are met, preventive maintenance compliance is maintained and vendors are managed appropriately,
  • Aids in managing the acquisition of new technology by conducting pre-purchase evaluations and assessment. Provides recommendations to physician ownership / leaders as to alternatives for technology and technology service methods.
  • Responsible for the documentation of service and calibration of radiographic equipment according to state, local and department requirements.
  • Executes an equipment preventive maintenance and inspection program to ensure performance and safety standards are maintained as per organization policy.
  • Performs all duties inherent to manager role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to policies and procedures.
  • Manager will perform certain technologist functions on an as needed basis as per their competencies.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Staff Management :

  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate radiology technologists and support staff.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage while optimizing productivity.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that emphasizes professional growth and accountability.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing education and training to maintain technical proficiency.
  • Demonstrates leadership knowledge, skillsets and abilities, an ability of troubleshoot / problem solve.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance :

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA) and accrediting bodies such as the American College of Radiology.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy, safety, and timeliness of diagnostic imaging.
  • Monitor patient and staff safety measures and address any incidents or concerns promptly.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and equipment to improve diagnostic capabilities and efficiency.
  • Prepare and analyze departmental performance metrics and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care while minimizing wait times and enhancing patient satisfaction.
  • Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence within the radiology department.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in radiology, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with radiology information systems (RIS), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Will require workplace location flexibility, on-call availability and extended hours per operational needs.
