Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director, New Student Transitions & Family Programs - Boca Raton, FL. Directly supervises the Office of New Student Transitions & Family Programs at Boca Raton including the supervision of professional and student staff. Responsible for adhering to state and university regulations and compliance for new student orientation. Oversees the process of new student orientation for all new undergraduate degree-seeking students and families university-wide. Facilitates and directs an online virtual orientation that is conducive to complete introduction and transition to the university. Provides support and guidance for the programs at FAU’s Northern and Broward campuses as applicable. Works with new students and families following admissions through enrollment by providing resources to assist with overall transition to the university with an emphasis on the orientation to campus services that promote student success and retention. Coordinates new student programming such as Red & Blue Week, First Saturday in Paradise, First Year Convocation, Need Help? Just Ask! and other related Academic Success Initiatives. Compiles data to determine the effect of new student orientation and other programs on the retention of students. Supervises family activities and processes for supporters of undergraduate students including organizing family weekends. Serve as liaison with University Advancement toward the creation and implementation of additional Family Association programming. Provides collaborative guidance to Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Academic Advising, Housing, Business Services, Academic Colleges and other related offices to ensure the smooth transition of new students to the university. Serves as a member of the Enrollment Management Leadership Team. Manages all fiscal expenditures associated with the Office of New Student Transitions & Family Programs budgets Provides assistance and guidance to graduate student orientation in working with the Graduate College as deemed necessary. Provides support for the Transfer Student Services (TSS) team including post-enrollment transition and engagement. Collaborates and communicates with offices providing student services to develop transfer-specific programs to promote transfer students’ successful transition. Oversee effective, timely, and responsive communication and outreach efforts, including branding, website, social media and other publications and artifacts; including Student Handbook and Family Handbook. Oversee FAU Mentoring Project which includes mentoring initiatives across the University and direct oversight of First-Year Connections. Lead the Mentoring Council, a clearinghouse and resource team for formal mentoring programs at Florida Atlantic.
