What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Development Specialist position at Florida Department of Corrections?
Job Summary:
The Career Development Specialist positions may cover more than one institution based on workload and proximity. Delivery of services will occur through cell-front and/or in congregate settings. The Department reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of Career Development Specialists based on Department need and funds. The services to be provided shall include:
1. Facilitation of employability and life skills programs;
2. Administration and interpretation of assessments;
3. Delivery of the 100 Hour employability/life skills class curriculum;
4. Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department, such as Thinking for a Change;
5. Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered; and
6. Facilitation of pre-release connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions to include pre-release job search, recruitment, and placement activities.
Required experience: An Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, corrections or related field; and Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry.
