Responsibilities
The Paralegal is responsible for assisting the General Counsel and attorneys in the General Counsel’s Office with duties and matters in providing in-house legal services to the State Board of Administration (SBA). The Paralegal reports to the Deputy General Counsel.
75% - Serves as assistant in the General Counsel’s Office (OGC) and performs paralegal and administrative responsibilities related to SBA Contracts, which includes Real Estate matters
- Assists Assistant General Counsels, Deputy General Counsel, and General Counsel & Chief Ethics Officer by performing various paralegal and administrative tasks relating to SBA contracts and amendments including filing, drafting, revising, finalizing, proofing documents, document reproduction and composing correspondence
- Corresponds with external parties in connection with contract execution
- Scans and inputs data into workshare application for contracts and amendments and related items
- Reviews emails received from Private Equity and Strategic Investments staff from fund managers related to contracts to determine if documents received need to be responded to by the General Counsel’s Office and/or uploads/scans into shared drives
- Assists with Real Estate entity creation, maintenance, and dissolution
- Maintains Real Estate entity files
- Schedules meetings and conference calls, when needed
10% - Serves as Agency Clerk for the SBA
- Maintains all court files for the DC Plan
- Prepares Index and Records on Appeal when cases are appealed
- Monitors and maintains updates to the open Case Docket for the DCA plan’s informal, formal and appellate cases
10% - Serves as assistant to OGC attorneys on agency rule matters
- Assists with developing a calendar to set forth the dates by which certain rulemaking activities must be accomplished
- Helps ensure all required filings are timely made
- Makes filings with the Florida Administrative Register as needed
- Maintains hard copy rulemaking files
05% - Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Eight years of related experience. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate’s degree, 4 years for a bachelor’s degree, 6 years for a master’s degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.
Preferences:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in legal services or a related field
- Paralegal certification or registration

Hiring Range: $61,100 - $76,400
