Focus On Renewal Sto-Rox Neighborhood Corporation (FOR) is an umbrella and pillar community organization devoted to addressing much needed social services ranging from food security, nutrition, early-childhood education, family support groups and mental health, to library and arts programs for all ages. Focus On Renewal employs 30 staff at four locations throughout McKees Rocks and Stowe Townships. We work with a wide range of partners to ensure high quality programming is accessible to all 13,000 residents of the Sto-Rox Community. Our mission states that Focus on Renewal's programs and partnerships connect children, adults, and families with the relationships, resources, and opportunities needed to develop and sustain a thriving community.

Executive Director, Focus On Renewal

Position Overview :

The Executive Director (ED) of Focus On Renewal (FOR) is the chief executive officer of the organization, responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. The ED will be the key management leader and spokesperson, driving the mission to foster vitality and growth in the Sto-Rox communities. Key responsibilities include fundraising, board development, human resources, financial oversight, program management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities :

Fundraising and Resource Development :

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with donors, ensuring sustained financial health and growth.
  • Oversee grant writing and reporting processes to maximize funding opportunities.
  • Organize and participate in fundraising events and campaigns.

Board Development and Governance :

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to fulfill the organization's mission.
  • Lead efforts to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and effective board.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of each committee, providing guidance and support.
  • Communicate effectively with the board, providing timely and accurate information necessary for decision-making.
  • Financial Oversight :

  • Oversee the fiscal integrity of FOR, including the development of the annual budget and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws governing nonprofit operations.
  • Manage the organization's resources within budget guidelines to maintain a positive financial position.
  • Work with the Finance Director to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement :

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local government.
  • Represent FOR in public forums, advocating for the needs and interests of the Sto-Rox communities.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships to enhance and expand program offerings.
  • Engage with Sto-Rox community members to develop conscientious understanding of their needs and unique challenges, so as to ensure that programs and services are responsive and impactful.
  • Program Oversight and Development :

  • Ensure the effective delivery of all FOR programs, including the violence prevention program, library services, food pantry, and child development center.
  • Work with program directors to monitor and evaluate program performance and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and innovation to meet community needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among staff.
  • Administration and Operations :

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to staff, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Oversee human resources functions, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure the organization's operations align with its mission, vision, and values.
  • Requirements

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and resource development.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinking and planning to anticipate future needs and opportunities.
