To support our ambitious growth agenda and 2030 strategy, we are looking for a passionate and strategic Human Resources Lead to join our leadership team.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and people-driven Human Resources Lead to lead the HR function across the US and Canada. The ideal candidate has a strong background in human resources or a related field, with at least 6 years of experience, ideally in a relevant industry.

As HR Lead, you will serve as the strategic and operational head of human resources for Food Service Direct. You’ll be responsible for talent strategy, culture building, people operations, organizational development, and ensuring compliance across all HR processes. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly into the leadership team, with high visibility and responsibility for aligning our people strategy to the broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Planning: Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with FSD’s 2030 vision and near-term business goals, including workforce planning, capability building, and succession planning.
  • Talent Management: Own the talent lifecycle from recruitment through retention, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
  • Culture & Engagement: Champion FSD’s values and culture across all teams; drive employee engagement, recognition programs, and DEI initiatives.
  • HR Operations: Oversee end-to-end HR processes, including onboarding, policy administration, performance reviews, employee relations, and terminations.
  • Data Integrity & Reporting: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of employee data; build and report on HR KPIs to inform business decisions.

  • Oversight: Manage third-party vendors such as payroll processors, benefit administrators, and recruiting platforms to ensure compliance, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws across multiple states and provinces.
  • Leadership Partnering: Serve as a key advisor to the leadership team on people-related matters, including organizational design, compensation strategy, and change management.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve HR systems, tools, and practices to scale with company growth and increase employee experience.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a relevant sector.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling HR operations in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong understanding of US labor law and employment regulations; knowledge of Canada is a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • High attention to detail with a systems-oriented mindset and a bias for action.
  • Experience managing HR technology and reporting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, etc.).
