Position:Kitchen Assistant
Reports to:Chef
Position Status:Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Mon & Wed 8:30-1:45; Tue, Thu, & Fri 9:00-1:45)
Start Date: September 4, 2025
The Kitchen Assistant supports the Chef in preparing and serving food to students, faculty, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation
- Wash dishes and thoroughly clean and sanitize all food prep areas according to protocol
- Assist with kitchen maintenance (including, but not limited to kitchen surfaces and appliances)
- Responsible for keeping accurate food and supply inventory, and daily restocking of items for kitchen and storage room
- Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have the following educational and work background:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Kitchen experience in a fast-paced environment preferred but not required
- California Food Handler Certification (The School will facilitate certification upon hire)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Salary: $18.00 per hour
