This position is responsible for reviewing claims prior to submissions to insurance payers. This position will review coding and billing to ensure coding meets payer guidelines. Assitance with reviewing eligibility denials and clearinghouse claim rejections. In addition, this position will also answer incoming billing telephone calls as needed. This team works Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm CST. Individuals agreeable to this schedule will be considered regardless of their home time zone.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Review charges prior to insurance payer submission to esure no errors in diagnosis or CPT codes are made.
- Ensure posted denials or refunds generated from review are forwarded to the correct department for resolution.
- Assist with eligibility denials and clearinghouse rejection reports
- As part of an overflow queue, answer any incoming telephone calls.
- All other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years of experience in medical billing, reading insurance EOB's, recognizing denials and customer service.
- Associates Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or closely related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to become thoroughly knowledgeable in Forefront Dermatology and its billing practices within six months.
- Thorough knowledge of Nextgen, insurance payer websites, and managed care contracting is required.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Be able to demonstrate leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and support organizational change.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, patients, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
For this position, the base pay range is $16.50 - $17.75 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education, certifications or training.
