Summary
The Die Cutting Pressman operates and maintains die cutting equipment to produce high quality die cut sheets.
Essential Functions
- Prepares and operates machine to cut out parts of specified size and shape from materials such as cardboard or paper for each order according to customer specification
- Works in a team which operates and maintains a variety of equipment that is used to perform one or more finishing functions
- Repairs and adjusts die cutting machine when it is not running properly. Requests a technician to repair the press if the operator is unable to do so
- Performs preventative maintenance daily to assigned devices keeping them clean, operational and calibrated; rectifies operational problems and notifies manager of unresolved malfunctions
- Organizes, gathers and assembles necessary materials for each job
- Records additional technical requirements to process orders onto job ticket/work instructions
- Assures job tickets, proofs, sample, dies, stripper boards, pickers, embossing plates, counter plates, retains, mylars, spot-sheets, supplies, departmental tools, and information resides in the proper location
- Follows department specifications and standard operating procedures to assure items are produced properly
- Follows schedule, communicates project status and records progress of projects
- Visually check and recheck layout and items against job ticket and customer requirements, approvals and samples
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in the print industry with knowledge of die cutting and finishing through educational workshops and seminars, continuing education courses, in-house training programs and reading related technical publications. Previous experience working on Bobst Die Cutters is a plus.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
Physical Demands
- Able to move/lift 40-50 lbs and stand for 90% of shift.
