Job Description

We are looking for an experienced childcare professional to provide leadership to the Forest City Family YMCA’s infant through school-age child care programs. The Child Care Director is responsible for providing a supportive and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive and model excellent relationship building skills with parents.

Duties include supervision of two program sites serving 6 weeks through school age, ensuring compliance with all Department of Human Services regulations, curriculum design, staff supervision, and budget management.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services field required.

· Minimum of two years of direct supervisory experience.

· A minimum of two years of childcare experience with the YMCA or within another organization.

· Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with other community organizations.

· Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Essential Functions

  • Manage child care programs and sites, including developing and monitoring the budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and participation in the program; and maintaining program records and files.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions; develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, and community organizations to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintain regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  • Recruit and hire diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. On-board and develop them for success. Maintain staff schedules and DHS files, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensure that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Build a culture of philanthropy within the department by building Y ambassadors within your staff/volunteer team, building relationships, and creating a case for support.
  • Identify potential collaborative partners and funders and build strong, strategic relationships with current and prospective partners inside and outside the Y. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) and assist in development of grant proposals to help fund the Y’s enrichment programs.
  • Ensure programs and services meet community needs including supervising existing program activities, establishing new programs and expanding programming within the community as needed. Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Organize or participate in Y activities, such as committees, special events, and fundraising.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications

CPR, First Aid and AED Certification

Must meet the qualifications to be a Child Care Director according to Iowa Child Care Licensing requirements.

Must be able to pass a Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry Background Screening.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,680.00 - $49,920.00 per year
