Job Description: Driver Manager
We are seeking an experienced Port Driver Manager/Dispatcher to lead and motivate a team of professional drivers servicing the challenging ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The ideal candidate will be confident, innovative, and eager to tackle challenges while fostering a collaborative environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Driver Development: Foster high-performing drivers through daily interactions, coaching, and positive reinforcement.
- Retention Strategies: Develop initiatives to cultivate a supportive culture that improves driver retention.
- Coaching and Training: Proactively coach driving associates, identifying areas for improvement and providing the necessary training to maximize their potential.
- Mileage Management: Guide drivers to achieve weekly mileage goals by effectively managing home time and hours of service.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Account Manager team to assign loads that best serve both customer needs and Forrest Transportation's objectives.
- Service Expectations: Discuss load details and service expectations with each driver for every assignment.
- Payroll Oversight: Review and approve payroll accuracy for drivers under you are assigned
- Onboarding Support: Assist in the onboarding process for new drivers, ensuring a smooth transition into the team.
- Freight Tracking: Monitor freight to its final destination to ensure on-time delivery.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Ability to identify best practices for Port Drayage operations to create unique programs that enhance customer satisfaction and differentiate our services in the marketplace.
- Data Analysis: Proficient in utilizing statistical data to assess performance and provide innovative recommendations for operational improvements.
- Financial Reporting: Capable of reporting on top lanes or customers while striving to exceed financial expectations, offering solutions to improve costs and address factors driving excess expenses.
