Job Title: Preschool Afternoon Teacher Assistant
Required Hours: 3:00 pm - 5:45 pm
This is a 12-month position, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:

Oversight and care of students for snack time, outside play time, and planned activities

Maintain a safe environment at all times
-
Follow and enforce all safety policies
-
Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for all students
-
Maintain professional and positive relationships with parents, students, and staff, and a positive attitude toward coworkers, parents, students, and the school
-
Remain active at all times by taking children to various areas of campus
-
Supervise children, staying vigilant at all times, and moving around to ensure the safety of students, this is an active position.

Know where all children are at all times, and ensure that you have all of them when you move from place to place

Handle behavioral issues as they arise
-
Handle student injuries and upsets
-
Assist children in the bathroom or with diapering tasks according to age
-
Help to maintain appropriate sanitation levels
-
Escort and check out students to the appropriate parent or guardian
-
Engage and communicate with students in a manner that is developmentally appropriate for their age
-
Report any problems which arise with students, other employees, or the school to the Administrator on Duty
-
Communicate with parents about their child
-
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
-
A minimum of one year’s experience in childcare is required; two years’ experience in a school or daycare setting is preferred
-
Early childhood credential preferred
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and patience
-
Exceptional listening skills, compassion, and the ability to remain calm at all times
-
Creativity and a willingness to sing, dance, and be silly and fun-loving with children
-
A clean background check is required.
-
CPR and first aid training are required. The school will provide, if necessary.
Essential functions:

Must be able to follow directions and perform work activities as assigned
-
Must be capable of occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
-
Must be capable of walking on uneven ground for up to 600 feet
-
Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods
-
Must be capable of bending, sitting, crouching, and getting down on the floor and back up
-
May be exposed to all weather conditions and might be required to work in various temperatures
