The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol the parking lots to prevent theft and vandalism; monitors all vehicles entering and exiting the parking lot; provide protection for vehicles arriving and departing after normal working hours
- Patrol areas around buildings to ensure integrity of contents; guards against illegal entry, fire, theft and vandalism
- Enforce safety rules and regulations; observe and report unusual conditions, operations and safety hazards
- Assist the police officer with enforcing rules concerning parking violations and reckless driving

- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Some experience in security work
- Some knowledge of principles, practices and procedures used in security work
- Ability to follow a prescribed routine and to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability and alertness in observing unusual and suspicious conditions and reporting such to proper authority without delay
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations in a tactful and firm manner
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships

- Work is performed outside in all weather conditions and requires sufficient physical strength, agility and dexterity to perform all essential tasks. Duties require walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, sitting, lifting and carrying light objects. Employee is exposed to the usual physical hazards associated with security work. Work also exposes employee to vehicle exhaust fumes and inclement weather. Employee may be required to work evenings.
