What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapist position at Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center?

Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center has an immediate opening for a Therapist (licensed professional preferred) to provide social services, including discharge planning.

Full & Part Time Positions Available! Weekdays & Weekend Shifts Available!

The Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to access, through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, complete specialized clinical social work services for patients/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term and long-term family therapy, group therapy, providing information and referrals as needed, and individual therapy when ordered by an MD. Provides a variety of psychotherapeutic services, group, family, individual to adults and adolescents in psychiatric hospital setting, presenting with co-occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, substance abuse disorders, and other behavioral disorders. Provides social services, including, but not limited to discharge planning.

Requirements:

• Must be a Registered Intern with the State of Florida, and be able to provide a Supervisory Agreement.

• LCSW, LMHC, or CAP- Preferred

• CPR certification

Education / Training:

• Master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling; License preferred

• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent

Experience:

• One (1) year of experience working in a hospital or psychiatric counseling setting with adults and/or adolescents.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies (group and individual treatment skills)

• Working knowledge of developmental stages

• Some minimal knowledge of community resources

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients with varied ability to understand

• Strong assessment skills and ability to intervene in a variety of situations

• Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices
