We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Overnight Assignment Editor.
Position Overview: The Overnight Assignment Editor at WINK News will play a crucial role in shaping our news coverage during the overnight hours. This position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual with a strong news judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring various news sources, including scanners, social media, and news wires, to identify breaking news and story leads.
- Support the assignment desk by researching news stories, verifying facts, and assisting in story development.
- Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and newsroom personnel to coordinate coverage assignments and logistical arrangements.
- Work closely with producers to ensure a smooth transition between overnight and morning news broadcasts.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in newsroom databases and systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (recent graduates or individuals pursuing degrees are encouraged to apply).
- Strong passion for news, storytelling, and a keen interest in pursuing a career in journalism.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- High level of curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to learn from experienced industry professionals.
- Basic understanding of newsroom operations, journalism principles, and digital media tools is a plus.
- Ability to work overnight hours
