Professional Application Designer

We are hiring a Professional Application Designer with strong mainframe experience and modern integration knowledge. In this role, you'll design, develop, and support complex enterprise software systems while working closely with cross-functional teams. WORK SCHEDULE:  EST Standard business hours, Monday–Friday

PAY RATE: $40.00 per hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Design, develop, install, test, and document software applications, including client, server, and web components

• Translate product specifications into detailed component-level design and architecture

• Participate in and lead application design efforts ensuring customer specifications are met

• Collaborate with development teams, senior designers, and architects to develop scalable technical solutions

• Apply and integrate third-party technologies to software solutions of moderate complexity

• Create technical documentation, unit designs, and test plans; participate in code reviews and system configuration

• Lead and mentor less experienced developers, providing guidance on best practices and software design

• Work with product development teams to accurately define and prioritize design requirements

• Participate in business process sessions and JAD (Joint Application Development) meetings to ensure clear communication and alignment

• Understand and manage the integration of mainframe technologies with modern systems

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

• 5 years of hands-on mainframe experience including:

  • CICS (including creating MAPS)

  • COBOL

  • JCL

  • DB2

  • ICEMAN, IDCAMS, EZTrieve, Expeditor

• Familiarity with ISPW and Control-M (a plus)

• Experience with software development life cycle and methodologies

• Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and design skills

• Proficiency in working with application design principles, tools, and documentation standards

• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with developers, stakeholders, and support staff

• Motivated, innovative mindset with a strong grasp of modern integration practices
