Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
- This role will be responsible for construction of a contact water pond between Dam 8 and 9 this will include for the construction of temporary coffer dams, access roads.
Specific Job Responsibility
The specific task to be performed by the position holder will include:
- Control of plant and personnel for the construction of the contact water pond
- Stripping of borrow pits and topsoil stockpiling.
- Construction of Coffer dams.
- Excavation and Backfill of Core trench.
- Importing and compacting of Laterite fills to the dam wall.
- Ensuring that all health and safety controls are in place and adhered to.
- Ensuring all QA/QC are adhered to and records kept
- Liaise with other affected stakeholders.
- Report on progress of the project and highlight any concerns
Job Specific Competencies
- Able to control large fleets of earthmoving equipment and personnel
- Ensuring compliance with QA/QC
- Ability to use previous experience to solve problems on site
- Ability to think on their feet and suggest alternative construction methods.
- Ability to produce clear reports on the day’s production
- Ability to highlight concerns before they are encountered
- Ability to liaise with other departments, Supervisors, planners, quantity and site surveyors and general workforce.

Experience required to perform in this job
- 10 years’ bulk earthworks and layer works.
- Previous earth dam construction preferable.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of 5 passes
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
