The Political Reform Audit Program conducts audits of political entities as required by the Political Reform Act. The political entities include candidates for legislative, constitutional, local, and judicial offices; statewide measures and general purpose committees; lobbying firms and lobbyist employers.
Under the supervision of the Political Reform Audit Supervisor, the Political Reform Auditor will perform field audits of books, statements, and records supporting the reports and statements of political entities filed under the Political Reform Act. The Political Reform Auditor is required to travel, including overnight travel up to 5 business days, to conduct field audits on an as needed basis, In your role, you will:
- Electronically access Information that includes reports and statements from the Secretary of State and local filing offices
- Utilize strong communication skills to contact and correspond with filers and/or their representatives
- Analyze documents, information, reports, and statements to develop an audit determination that Is supported by law, regulations, and facts
- Prepare work papers and audit reports to document the facts, law, analysis, and audit determination
- Provide excellent customer service
- Work Independently and in a team environment
This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
