The Asphalt roller operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Breakdown Rollers and Finish Rollers. The asphalt roller operator distributes, breaks down, compresses, and gives a finished surface to cooling asphalt. Barricade newly installed asphalt to prevent damages. Ensure the job site is clean and free of excess material.
The asphalt roller operator must deal with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels and quality of service.
The asphalt roller operator must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner.

Requirements:
- Can Proficiently operate a roller for asphalt projects on roads and state highways.
- Must have strong verbal communication skills, ability to read and write.
- Employees must be able to work with and without direct supervision.
- Complete and abide by all Safety Training and other provided training.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Work well with all co-workers, residents and customers
- Verifiable work history
- Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
- Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
- Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Participate in routine maintenance
- Practice workplace safety
- Use equipment to level roads and ensure proper drainage
- Operating equipment safely and efficiently by following proper loading and unload procedures
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50-75 lbs.
- Must have the ability to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events.
- This position may require long periods of standing and being subjected to adverse weather conditions.
- Consistently wear common protective or safety equipment.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
