Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform testing in the areas of chemistry, hematology, serology, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion and bacteriology and to assist in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions as requested.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs patient testing in all laboratory departments according to laboratory procedures.
- Orders and results patient tests in the computer system.
- Issues accurate reports to appropriate persons/departments.
- Maintains appropriate laboratory records.
- Collects samples. Properly prepares specimens for analysis or shipment to reference lab. Checks specimens for acceptability before performing testing.
- Follows laboratory quality control, IQCP and preventative maintenance protocols. Assumes responsibility for problem solving.
- Participates in proficiency and testing and completes competency protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- Baccalaureate or Associate degree and internship from an accredited Medical Technology program
- ASCP, AMT, HHS, or CLS preferred
Other Competencies
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
- Requires exposure to infectious disease or bodily fluids
- The physical demand classification is light with lifting of 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently. When involved with patient handling tasks, and weight to be lifted exceeds 20 lbs., assistive devices should be used

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
