JOB SUMMARY
The Security Supervisor leads the security team to ensure the safety and security of staff, guests, and the facility while delivering exceptional customer service. This role includes overseeing day-to-day security operations, leading security personnel, and coordinating with leadership and other departments to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment.
Additional Information: This is a full-time non-exempt position. This position is eligible for the Conservatory's benefit package offered to full-time employees, which includes medical, dental and vision insurance, company paid Life/AD&D/Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance, participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Program (OPERS), optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, generous Paid Time Off (PTO), and complimentary membership to the Conservatory.
Compensation: $22.50/hour paid biweekly.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the physical security of Franklin Park Conservatory (FPC) and its occupants, ensuring a safe environment for staff, guests, and assets.

Conduct interviews, manage the selection and training process, create schedules, and perform performance evaluations for the security team. Provide coaching and redirect performance as needed.

Develop and implement training plans to ensure security staff are well-trained and engaged. Regularly evaluate training effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.

Act as a key point of contact between leadership and security staff, ensuring open communication and resolution of any concerns or challenges.

Monitor the Secure Operations Center (SOC), provide break support, manage daily assignments for Security Associates, and oversee the opening and closing of the facility. Assist with Security Associate or Security Shift Lead duties during instances staff absence.

Work with Visitor Experience staff and other departments, and attend meetings as a representative of the security team to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Act as a first responder during emergencies (fire, flood, injury, etc.), activating the emergency response plan as needed, and ensuring timely and appropriate responses to security incidents.

Perform regular inspections of the facility, including doors, locks, and both public and private spaces. Promptly report and document any damage or security concerns.

Assist with parking management, inspect incoming packages, and ensure secure deliveries.

Oversee the production and distribution of ID cards for staff and guests, ensuring all individuals entering secure areas are properly registered.

Serve as the first responder for incidents, including medical emergencies and de-escalation of guest situations, ensuring accurate and timely incident reports.

Ensure guests comply with FPC policies, providing clear, friendly, and respectful communication.

Lead and participate in regular workshops focused on security policies, customer service, guest engagement, and professional conduct.

Oversee building entrances, control crowd flow, greet guests, provide directions, and monitor access control systems, alarms, and deliveries.

Ensure the availability of necessary supplies, including first aid kits, parking materials, and general office supplies.

Perform other duties as assigned, with a focus on delivering exceptional guest service and maintaining security standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum age of 21.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
-
At least 3-5 years of supervisory and customer service experience.

Experience in safety and/or security preferred; experience in non-profit, cultural organizations, or entertainment venues is a plus.

Valid driver's license required; must meet insurance requirements set by FPC.

Must obtain an Ohio drivers license within 13 years of hire if not already held.

First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
