JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the incumbent will manage the day-to-day operations of the Level 1 Outpatient Substance Abuse Program. The incumbent will ensure that the level of care provided is in accordance with the Alabama Department of Mental Health and Joint Commission guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the oversee of delivery and documentation of clinical services for program clients.

2. Responsible for making a cursory evaluation prior to admission of each client, observing the program's admission and readmission policies.

3. Responsible for the quality and appropriateness of clinical services within the Level 1 Outpatient Substance Abuse Program.

4. Provides annual trainings for Substance Abuse Program staff as required by governing bodies.

5. Conducts comprehensive intake interviews and prepares detailed intake report for each client.

6. Develops and conducts program treatment activities relative to client's treatment plan and his/her achievement of a healthier means of coping with problems.

7. Develops and conducts individual and group counseling and recreational leisure activities, which best meets the needs of clients.

8. Conducts educational lectures and/or audiovisual programs concerning the efforts and consequences of drug addiction.

9. Responsible for making available through referral and consultation additional supportive services in accordance with the needs of the individual client (i.e. Employment, Vocational training, Legal Services, Medical care, etc.)

10. Cooperates with Executive Director in maintaining the program.

11. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.

12. Ensures program policies and procedures are in compliance with Alabama Department of Mental Health and Joint Commission standards.

13. Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by the Executive Director and/or Director of Behavioral Health.

14. Researches grant opportunities for the purpose of developing additional funding resources for both current and proposed services, programs, and administrative operations.

15. Assists with monitoring the financial management of grants (e.g. budget preparation, budget adjustments, expenditures, etc.) for the purpose of complying with all program and funding guidelines of awarding organizations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An Individual licensed in the State of AL as a: Professional Counselor; Certified Social Worker; Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist; Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner; Marriage/Family Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Physician Assistant or Physician.
  • Possess a master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, counseling, psychiatric nursing or other behavioral health area with requisite course work equivalent to that of a degree in counseling, psychology, social work or psychiatric nursing and has successfully completed a clinical practicum and/or an individual with substance abuse counselor certification credential from the Alabama Association of Addiction Counselors, National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Alabama Alcohol and Drug Association or International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and other Drug Abuse, Inc.
  • At least five (5) years of prevention and treatment experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license and liability insurance with access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance. Must possess the ability to work with professionals, paraprofessionals and clients. Possess the skills necessary for providing effective treatment, and the ability to work as a member of the therapeutic team.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
