What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Control Team Members position at Fred Smith Company?
Fred Smith Company is currently searching for experienced Traffic Control Team Members.
JOB DUTIES:
To assist Project Foreman/Superintendent with the placement and maintenance of traffic control devices on public and private jobs.
The ability to read and understand plans and specifications detailing the placement of traffic control devices.
The ability to develop and maintain suitable liaison with inspectors and the general public.
Responsible for adequate supplies being on hand to meet required needs and project specifications.
Develop and maintain ways and means of controlling traffic throughout the work day or night.
With helpers, see to the proper erection and placement of required traffic control materials such as barrels, metrix boards, cones, lights, signs, etc. as needed and change on daily basis.
Stay abreast of any changes which come about during the work day or night and take necessary steps to affect suitable control procedures.
Responsible for removal of such material at end of phase or no longer required/needed or to avoid penalties for areas not being accessible as project requires.
Responsible for any assigned vehicle used to transport traffic control devices.
Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Preference given to those with prior Traffic Control/Flagger experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
Moderate physical effort required, continuously lifting or moving light to average weight material. Occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (over 50 pounds).
Position requires the ability to lift, grasp, push and pull. Position requires standing and walking for sustained periods of time and agility to work quickly.
MENTAL & VISUAL DEMAND:
Continuous mental and visual attention required. Work is repetitive and/or diversified which requires constant alertness or activity.
