Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Network Engineer
F.L.S.A. Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Cisco CCNA (in any enterprise specialization) required
Cisco CCNP or CCIE (in any enterprise specialization) preferred
MCITP server administrator certification or equivalent experience preferred
Detailed knowledge of networking technologies and components
Strong knowledge of storage backup methodologies and practices
Experience employing warranty procedures for network and server devices
Ability to diagnose complex networking and server issues
Experience supporting converged voice, video and data networks
Experience maintaining Storage Area Networks (SAN)
Able to tackle problems, identify solutions and follow through to completion
Manage multiple project responsibilities simultaneously and prioritize work
Good oral and written communication skills
REPORTS TO: Network and Infrastructure Manager
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month (261 days) with benefits provided according to Classified Agreement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot computer malfunction relating to faulty hardware, software, server and/or network.
Implement, maintain and oversee district Storage Area Networks.
Implement, maintain and oversee converged voice, video and data networks.
Implement, maintain and oversee network services such as DNS, DHCP and WINS.
Implement quality control procedures to improve uptime of network and server devices.
Deploy and maintain server operating systems and software in the district data center.
Coordinate with the Data Infrastructure team to establish and maintain network cabling systems.
Coordinate with other technology team members to design and implement automated deployment and maintenance technologies.
Communicate effectively with staff and students regarding maintenance of networked technologies.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conduct training as necessary for staff in the proper use of technology equipment.
Research and implement preventative maintenance procedures for district technology devices.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to technical emergencies as needed.
Attend training as required by administration.
Special projects as required.
Other duties as assigned.
