Job Title: Residence Hall Supervisor-Porter Terry
Department: Student Services
Reports To: Director of Residence Life
FLSA Status: Salary, non-exempt
Prepared By: HR/Director or Residence Life
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
Must live in the residence hall and interact with students daily.
Responsible for the knowledge of the whereabouts of students after curfew.
Be responsible for the students in his/her care. Work closely and in a friendly manner with all students living in the residence hall with adjustment, personal, spiritual, and disciplinary problems.
Enforce all of the University’s student policies and regulations, which includes reporting misconduct and assisting the Dean of Students with thorough documentation.
See that physical facilities are safe, clean and in good repair by turning in work orders and making sure those are completed satisfactorily and in a reasonable amount of time.
Plan and direct musters to orient new students and assists in their integration into campus life.
Initiate, plan, and conduct a program each semester related to social, spiritual, and/or intellectual growth.
Supervise all residence hall activities.
Attend all workshops and meetings as determined by the Director of Residence Life.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 3-4 employees in the Residence Assistants.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Freed-Hardeman University policies.
Conducts interviews, hires, and trains employees.
Plans, assigns, and directs work; evaluates performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Must be available around the clock to deal with emergency situations.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to adequately document situations that occur in the Residence Halls. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, parents, both prospective and current students and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to use the Residence Halls budget to provide requested needs for the student population in his/her residence hall.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to recognize the need for referrals to our counseling center.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; and Word Processing software.

Salary : $27,600 - $35,000
