What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Web Press Operator position at Freedom Graphics?
Freedom, a national Direct Mail Company, is one of the largest, independently owned, privately held, direct mail marketing providers in the United States. Why Freedom? Because we are a leader in the direct mail space, investing in technology and resources to facilitate innovative ideas, and we’re looking to add 1st Web Press Operators in our Naperville location for 2nd and 3rd shift.
A 1st Web Press Operator maintains the quality and maximum production of printed material in a profitable manner, to be achieved through the following responsibilities. They report directly to the Pressroom Shift Supervisor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up individual jobs on the press according to the job instructions and copy. Upon completion of setup, print the job maintaining maximum production and quality. Approve the job himself before running, then seek supervisor approval after he starts running. In the event of ink jet inline seek approval from quality control.
- Must have experience in inline web finishing, rotary cutter set up, die cutting, UV applications, full web print units.
- Must be able to read job layouts, have the ability to co-ordinate with press crew on the best way to produce web inline formats.
- Communicates essential information regarding incomplete setups, potential problems, and other information pertinent to the job at shift change. Fill out all daily production and quality paperwork.
- Works in a safe manner not only for himself but for his fellow employees as well
- Keeps all tools organized (this includes cleaning up after himself and putting unused equipment in its designated area)
- Must have his own tools.
- Works overtime when the production schedule dictates.
- Direct and supervise the work of Press Assistants and Helpers
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in all areas of the particular press he is running (i.e., set-ups, adjustments and preventative maintenance).
- Detail oriented and committed to quality.
- Possess proactive problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- High school diploma.
- Minimum of one-four years’ experience as a Lithographic Web press operator
- The ability to multi-task within a manufacturing environment.
