What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM DIRECTOR position at Freedom Magnolia?
Responsible for successful maintenance of patient records and organizational and administrative operation of the Governing Body approved Health Information Management Department. Manages the responsibility for operational aspects of department. Serves as resource for facility regarding medical record content and regulatory requirements. Assures availability of the medical records at all times per company policy. Assures duties are done in accordance with facility policies and procedures, JCAHO, federal and state regulations, and QAPI standards. Ensures medical record chart and content is broken down into the approved closed chart order. Responsible for handling the documentation and communication process to outside coding and billing organizations, while maintaining all HIPPA and regulatory requirements for security and privacy of patient information. Responsible for the approval, process management from hospital policy and production of Medical Records request.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: High school diploma with additional training in Health Information Management department functions (i.e. certified health information management technician or other such certification registrations or training).
License: None, RHIA preferred
Job Requirements:
- Experience in Medical Record organization and auditing.
- Two or more years of previous hospital experience in all aspects of health information management functions.
- Knowledge of accrediting organization standards and state regulations for Hospitals.
- Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
