SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
SUMMARY
Transports the public, which includes seniors and developmentally disabled passengers driving an appropriately sized vehicle.
Assists in the fulfillment of the agency’s vision, “For Those We Serve,” by empowering individuals to thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensures all passengers are properly secured.
Operates wheelchair lift properly for loading and unloading.
Ensures all wheelchair equipment is stored properly prior to movement of vehicle.
Operates vehicle in all-weather and terrain conditions for field trips and other related travel as required.
Fosters and maintains good rapport with passengers, centers, care providers and staff.
Attends mandatory required training and various meetings.
Safely transports passengers from designated pick-up and drop-off locations.
Uses two-way radio.
Responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.
Performs, documents and submits daily vehicle condition reports.
Reads, interprets and follow maps.
Performs arithmetic calculations.
Travels for business as required.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred six months of related experience, including the safe operation of motor vehicles with a commercial A or B license with passenger endorsement (P).
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to obtain and maintain relevant certification(s) within 30 days of hire.
Possess and maintain a valid commercial A or B license with passenger endorsement (P).
Maintain acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier.
Pass required background investigation including medical examination, Department of Justice fingerprint clearance. May require TB clearance and child abuse index.
CPR and First Aid training required within six months of hire.
COVID-19 vaccination required within 60 days of hire, unless approved for religious or medical exemption.
Pass required drug and alcohol testing prior to employment; will be subject to continual urine and breath alcohol testing throughout employment.
