Job Summary
The FUSD High School Student Food Champions Teaching Assistant supports Food Champions Instructors in delivering lessons, documenting activities, evaluating outcomes, and reporting on Food Stewardship, Waste Prevention, and Food Recovery efforts at FUSD school sites.
FUSD High School Student Workers will provide support for up to 4 hours per day and for up to 180 instructional days.
This position reports to the Food Champions Instructor. The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish or Hmong, eager to learn, and interested in community food systems and community work. While experience in teaching kids, gardening, or farming is preferred, it is not required. The candidate must be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds and be comfortable communicating with groups of all sizes. Hands-on training will be provided.
Education and Experience
- Applicant MUST be a current FUSD High School Student, a minimum age of 16 years and work permit eligible.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a PLUS.

- Must have reliable transportation.

- Safe food handling experience is preferred but not required.
Environmental Conditions
Work may be conducted indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, speak, and hear, both in person and by telephone. The role also involves repetitive use of fingers and hands to operate office equipment, including keyboards, and to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may need to stoop, kneel, or bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Compensation
Compensation: $16.50 per hour.
