Overview
Frontier Technology Inc. is looking for a Software Development Manager to provide technical leadership and mentoring of software development teams as well as contribute their current, advanced software engineering skills in cloud, devops, C /C#, software architecture, and formal software process to FTI tools. Duties will include design, implementation, testing and maintenance of new and existing FTI software products and tools, as well as engaging and collaborating with the various internal research and development (IRAD) software teams to ensure that their software solutions are compatible with FTI’s cloud-based analytical framework and in alignment with the company’s long-term vision. This position can be remote.
Responsibilities
- Functional management of software developer direct reports

- Conducting merit planning
- Career development counseling, mentoring, informal and formal performance improvement actions
- Direct/Manage/Supervise the software development function (cloud and/or in-house) of direct reports.
- Develop and implement software development-related business plans, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to prioritize software development needs including design, development, and documenting and testing new and existing software.
- Collaborate with technical leadership in other departments on enterprise-wide software development planning and implementation, including accelerating cloud migration of existing tools.
- Analyze and resolve software development issues and needs in terms of the software's full life cycle.
- Facilitate planning for sprints, features, and larger technical initiatives; serve as a facilitator for Product Owners and the development/engineering team and focus teams to deliver value quickly through iterations
- Deliver and facilitate effective and efficient Agile ceremonies including weekly stand-ups, sprint reviews, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives
- Identify and remove impediments, control distractions as well as facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
- Coach and enact continuous improvement within the team to increase the productivity of the team and quality of deliverables
- Ensure proper documentation using Agile artifacts (product vision statement, product backlog, product roadmap, release progress, sprint backlog, etc.)
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress to provide transparency across the client company
Education/Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related study and 10 years of experience in software development/architecting positions.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense clearance.
- 4 years experience in software development projects, in any role, and at least 2 years of experience as an Agile scrum master
- Demonstrated ability to strongly partner with various stakeholders to drive, influence, and participate in planning and development in an agile environment
- Broad knowledge and use of state-of-the-art in software development process and standards with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- At least 3 years experience in cloud technologies such as AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Comfortable supporting and presenting to customers.
- Occasional domestic business travel is expected as part of the role.
Desired Experience:
- Certified Scrum Master or PMI-ACP preferred
- Current working experience in C and Python at an Intermediate to Advanced level
- Experience architecting cloud environments for deployment in GovCloud
- Experience designing, developing and maintaining application user interfaces
