What are the responsibilities and job description for the UPK Teacher position at Fulmont Early Childhood Services?

SUMMARY

Instruct preschool children in activities that follow our school readiness plan/goals, which are designed to promote social, physical and cognitive growth necessary for kindergarten preparation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follow all Fulmont, Head Start, and NYS Day Care Regulations, Policies and Procedures.

Provide guidance and direction to the Teacher Assistant, as well as any Bus Monitor/Center Aides, Substitutes, Interns, or parents in the classroom.

Plan individual and group activities to stimulate development of language, social/emotional, and motor skills.

Utilize the Creative Curriculum, Scott Foresman Pre-K Literacy, as well as any other curriculum or assessment deemed necessary by management.

Assess students using PPVT.

Meet CLASS expectations and standards.

Promote daily life skills in each child by providing opportunities involving room cleanliness and personal hygiene, such as, table setting/cleanup, sweeping floor, picking up after play time, brushing teeth, proper toilet habits/cleanliness, etc.

Ensure tables are set in a manner that promotes family style meal periods, as required by the performance standards.

Promote socialization, fine motor skills, self-help skills, and appropriate table manners during family style meal periods.

Alternate periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue of children.

Complete two home visits annually with the parents of each child, assisting them in setting educational goals. Additional home visits may be necessary based on individual family needs.

Follow-up the progress of goals and objectives through periodic observations and on-going anecdotal notes.

Conduct two annual parent/teacher conferences to review progress.

Complete GOLD ON-LINE for each child three times per year.

Maintain ongoing communication with the Family Advocate/Specialist regarding children’s attendance, notes from parents, and any other pertinent information about the children and familiesthrough weekly team meetings.

Maintain on-going communication between home and school throughout the year.

Develop and submit lesson plans to the On-Site Supervisors per current procedure located in Education Binder.

Complete daily attendance, daily meal count, daily head count logs and disinfectant logs.

Thoroughly check each child’s book bag and parent/teacher communication folder on a daily basis.

Check and monitor classroom and indoor/outdoor play areas for any hazardous materials on a daily basis. Report any concerns to the On-Site Supervisor.

Ensure all documentation and paperwork is maintained and kept up to date.

Attend mandatory training and pursue education as it pertains to the position.

Assist children during arrival and dismissal periods,

Provide continuous supervision, monitoring and interaction with the children during indoor/outdoor activities, field trips, etc.

Interact with children through continuous educational opportunities involving all developmental areas: language, social/emotional, fine and gross motor, cognitive.

Create and promote a continuous, positive environment for children, families, and staff.

Communicate and address, in unison with the Teacher Assistant and Family Advocate/Specialist, any concerns and/or issues directly related to the children, families or classroom operations. If problems are unresolved, follow the organizational chart and report to the On-Site Supervisor.

Enter data into ChildPlus Program regarding communication with families, observations, disclosures, incidents, etc.

Enter observations and assessments into GOLD as per our school readiness plan/goals.

Acquire and maintain GOLD reliability cerfication.

Maintain NYS Certifications for teaching as required by NYS Department of Education.

Provide input as requested by management regarding staff performance evaluations.

Adhere to all Agency safety policies as well as any State, Federal or other applicable safety regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children is required. Previous work experience in a preschool setting preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

NYS Birth-2, Birth -6, or Birth-12 Required. Valid NYSDriver License required. CPR/First Aid Certification and MAT certification a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.45 - $21.69 per hour
