About Furnace :
Furnace Record Pressing is a full-service vinyl pressing plant based in Alexandria,
VA. We make vinyl records for major labels and indies, musicians, and all who care
about quality and craft. We’ve been doing this for over 25 years and are dedicated
to continuing to drive the industry by bringing only the best vinyl records to
market.
Our clients include the biggest bands in the world and independent labels and
bands putting out their first record. Yes, this is a cool place to work, but we also
work very hard and care deeply about the final product.
We practice Lean Manufacturing in the office and on the manufacturing floor. This
means a lot of things but part of it is saving time every day through continual
improvement of processes and ourselves.
Electroplating Technician :
The Electroplating Technician is responsible for the preparation, operation, and maintenance of electroplating equipment and solutions. This includes meticulously moving parts through various chemical baths, preparing and testing solutions, maintaining the cleanliness of the plating lab, and ensuring the quality of finished products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities :
Precisely move parts in and out of solution baths and rinses.
Prepare and test chemical solutions to maintain proper electroplating bath composition.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the plating lab.
Perform preventative maintenance on plating tanks, including sensors, valve and filter changes, and bath cleaning and preparation.
Assist with prototyping and part building as needed.
Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing orders and parts.
Safely operate forming, trimming, and packaging machinery.
Handle sensitive parts with care to prevent damage.
Prepare lacquers for pre-plating.
Separate stampers from parent parts and trim / form them with precision.
Inspect parts for visible and audible defects.
Perform equipment and process checks using necessary instruments, hand tools, gauges, and lab ware.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of PPE
Catalog and organize parts for storage.
Set up equipment sensors, such as temperature controls.
Seal off areas not requiring coating.
Dip or brush products with chemical solutions.
Transfer coated items to drying racks
Move products to finishing and storage areas, using finishing and forming equipment
Report production problems to supervisors.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Ability to convey complex technical concepts in writing.
Ability to work any shift, including overtime, and in varying environmental conditions.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and understand units of measure (imperial and metric).
Ability to read warning signs, hazard labels, operating procedures, and log sheets.
Ability to hear warning sirens and emergency evacuation alarms.
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have) :
Experience in mold creation for plastics.
Experience in similar roles such as maintenance (car work, medical equipment), chemical mixing, or operating machinery.
Forklift license.
1-2 years of manufacturing experience in a related industry OR an Associate degree in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Chemical or Process Controls
