Security Engineer

G2 Ops, Inc.
San Diego, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/7/2023 CLOSED ON 9/9/2023

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Engineer position at G2 Ops, Inc.?

What makes someone choose one company over another? Pay, Benefits, Training, Work Satisfaction, Culture? What if you can have it all! At G2 Ops we have extremely competitive pay and benefits and that is not even the best part. Our culture is what sets us apart from other companies. Here, you will not be another payroll number or a cog in the machine. We provide great value to our customers by working as a team and ensuring every member is set up for success. Our team approach allows for each member to not only provide value with their expertise but also gives them the opportunity to cross train in other areas they have interest in.

Let's talk salary. The salary range for these positions is $120,000-$175,000 based on what we are asking you to do, and your qualifications. We also offer a competitive benefits package and have fringe benefits offered throughout the year. The benefits have an estimated value of $21,000 annually. With company standard annual performance reviews in place, plus on the spot awards for recognition, your performance will be rewarded and recognized, we promise!

So, you want to work from home? Let's be honest, remote work is not always all it's cut out to be. At G2 Ops, we offer a flexible schedule to meet the needs of our employees and customers. Due to the classification level of the projects we support, we are not able to offer fully remote opportunities at this time. As a Defense Contractor, we are frequently working with sensitive material, and therefore, we need to ensure where you access your work is secure. You will have a shiny desk at the G2 Ops office, and certain positions will be required to work at a military site directly with our customers (this is a good thing!). We do allow teleworking with prior approvals, but here's the thing, we have worked very hard to create an awesome culture where our employees get to come to a collaborative, exciting office environment. We want you to join the fun!

Still not convinced? Allow us to elaborate. For this opportunity, we are seeking a mid to senior level Security Engineer to support the RMF needs for submarine communication systems for our Navy customers in San Diego, Ca. You will join our team of security and systems engineers working in a classified space at NAVWAR to ensure both current and next-generation communications systems are secure and resilient to cyber-attacks. More specifically, you will be serving as the Lead Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for assigned mission-critical Navy communications systems and will be directly interfacing with various stakeholders to verify all systems within the authorization boundary meet Risk Management Framework requirements. You will be the dedicated ISSO to a specific project but also serve as the lead and considered the subject matter expert for all ISSOs/Information Systems Security Engineers (ISSEs) across the department.

What does this mean to you? ISSOs act as the bridge between the technical system developer community and the security risk management community, so you will have an opportunity to work in both arenas. Your work will be diverse. Some days you will be working with system developers and technical agents as the Cyber SME to determine security requirements, reviewing ACAS/SCAP scans, verifying systems comply for STIGs and SRGs, and vendor hardening guides. Most days, you will be developing and maintaining RMF packages, such as Security Assessment Plans, Risk Assessment Report, POA&MS, and accreditation boundary diagrams as well attending cybersecurity exercises and conducting vulnerability assessments. If you are the type of person that likes being involved in ‘all things cyber’, this might be the position for you!

Lastly, the ideal candidate would already possess an active DOD TOP SECRET clearance, but an active DOD SECRET to start is acceptable. We will work with you to obtain an IAT level 3 certification (e.g., Security , CISSP, etc.) and should have at least five years prior cybersecurity and DOD RMF experience. We prefer a B.S. degree in a related field but would be willing to consider other levels for the right candidate.

Not sure if you are qualified but have some skills? Apply anyway! If you meet most of the requirements but not all, we can explore cross training or other training opportunities to fill in any gaps.

Congratulations, you made it all the way to the end of this job posting! We look forward to learning more about you!

Quick Note: We are seeking full-time employees; the continuation of outside employment shall not constitute a conflict with the Company’s interest, including performing work for a customer or competitor.

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid insurance for medical, dental, and vision for eligible employees and family members
  • 100% company-paid insurance for life, short-term (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) for eligible employees
