With our aggressively growing used vehicle business, we are currently seeking an experienced Used Vehicle (Car Team) Buyer to join our sales operations team. The position is a remote/hybrid opportunity based in Salt Lake City and will be responsible for purchasing vehicles in various simulcast auction channels and trade networks as well as fleet direct souring across the country. Here’s what you’ll be doing: Develop and maintain strong relationships with each of the stores to which you are assigned. Work with them to jointly develop weekly/monthly buying plans that support their goals, sales pace, stocking levels and needs through authorized sourcing channels and activities. Analyze market for trends in vehicle wholesale values. Serve as subject matter expert for market conditions, trends, and changes in each store’s geographic market. Provide guidance and support as it relates to purchasing and evaluating used inventory that supports each store’s buying plans. Be a team player! Achieve monthly purchasing quotas and gross margin targets by strategically sourcing vehicles from multiple online sources, fleet direct relationships and group trade networks. Assist your assigned store’s leadership with their used inventory through supply chain life cycle and post-sale processes including coordinating payment, freight and logistics and arbitration Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with auction personnel, fleet representatives and internal partners. Review and analyze actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively. Limited travel will be required to support the above-mentioned activities and to maintain strong relationships with the assigned stores. Other duties as assigned from time to time. Here’s what you’ll need: Prior automotive industry experience required with 3-5 years of previous multi-store buying experience either as a buyer or a used car manager. Strong vAuto/Stockwave experience required with demonstratable understanding of key industry metrics to properly evaluate and manage used inventory. Self-motivated and able to achieve objectives in a remote setting with minimal structure. Comfortable with technology-based platforms. College Degree preferred but not required; High school diploma or the equivalent required. Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
