Job Summary
The GAL Group is looking to fill the position of Materials Manager, who under the direction of the General Manager, will primarily be responsible to end-to-end processes of order management, in-bound and out-bound shipments, warehousing, and inventory management. The Materials Manager must ensure that optimum levels of inventory are maintained whilst minimizing out of stocks, ensure service levels targets are met, and review or update supply chain practices in accordance with changing environmental policies, standards, or regulations.
Job Duties
- Estimate and create demand reservation based on forecasting and trend analytics.
- Ensure all materials are sourced and scheduled to meet calendar dates and price points.
- Communicate daily via email and phone with all suppliers and internal cross functional partners regarding delays, shortages, and other status updates.
- Work directly with suppliers to plan all production deadlines, bulk approvals, and determine dates for pre-booking long lead-time materials.
- Place all bulk reservations and ensure timely bulk delivery.
- Maintain and track all orders, providing updates to other departments as needed.
- Review quality issues/defects with Manufacturing departments and resolve with suppliers, elevating to senior management as needed.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes.
Work Conditions
- Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
- Overtime hours as needed (nights, weekends, holidays)

Job Requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Planning, Logistics, or Warehousing
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
- Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
