Teamwork - The intern will build and maintain collaborative relationships with the CSC intern team and professional staff as well as community partners.
The Center for Social Concerns ( CSC ) equips students and campus colleagues to engage with Gannon’s communities, both local and global, through purposeful service, exploration, and action for the common good. The Community Engagement Intern will primarily provide support for the CSC’s community engagement initiatives through the areas outlined below.
CSC Community Engagement Intern Responsibilities May Include
Candidate must have:
Successful candidates must be available for work during weekday business hours, 8-4:30. Some evening and weekend hours may be requested, i.e. to represent the CSC at an admissions event or at a CSC event on campus.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry objects and boxes of items to locations on and off campus is helpful, but not required.

The Community Engagement Intern will primarily provide support for the CSC’s community engagement initiatives through the areas outlined below.
CSC Community Engagement Intern Responsibilities May Include
- Planning and preparation for CSC programs including, but not limited to: Saint Joseph House for Faith and Action, GIVE Day, Day of Caring, Gannon Goodwill Garden, International Education Week, Hunger and Homelessness Week, the annual Fair Trade Sale, and other community engagement or advocacy and awareness initiatives as assigned. This could include providing support through the following areas:
- Preparing program documentation and supplies
- Recruitment and onboarding of program participants
- Creating and updating marketing materials
- Assisting with inventory, purchasing, and organization of program materials
- Completing research projects to support program planning
- Collecting and organizing data from program forms (surveys, rosters, excel sheet creation, etc.)
- Planning and supporting day-of needs for program-related events
- Assist with representing the CSC at campus events.
- Assist the CSC Student Intern team and professional staff with other office projects as assigned, including supporting needs in other areas within Mission Immersion and the Student Experience division.
Candidate must have:
- Interest in the mission and programs of the CSC , including interest in learning more about community, service, culture, and global issues.
- Openness to learning and to personal and professional growth, including development of oral and written communication skills.
- Openness to learning and using technology platforms such as Canva, Microsoft Office Applications (we use Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and others regularly) and social media and other web platforms the CSC utilizes.
- Good organizational and time management skills in order to manage and complete multiple projects.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Good academic and conduct standing at the university.
