JOB TITLE
Team Leader/Coach – Light Assembly
LOCATION
Fox Valley – Neenah Area
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides support and oversight for the Light Assembly production team and works with other Leader/Coaches to respond to needs of the entire Production team. This position provides direction to team members while sharing knowledge and skills. The Leader/Coach is responsible for manufacturing, training, evaluations, work center layout, material handling, accurate work instructions and movement of work orders throughout their team. Goals include:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Mechanical, Light or Technical Assembly experience is preferred
- Supervisory, Management or Leadership education or degree a plus
- Supervisory, Management or Leadership experience is preferred
- Forklift certification a plus
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Must be able to apply basic math skills and use standard and metric measurements.
- Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office is required, including internet and email and spreadsheet skills.
- Must be willing and able to learn other software including ERP/accounting, databases and label printing.
- Experience with Bills of Material, work instructions and customer drawings is preferred.
- Understanding of hardware, hand tools, scales and equipment is preferred.
- Must have problem-solving skills with focus on quality and efficiency.
- Communications skills with co-workers, customers, and suppliers should be acceptable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership/Personnel
- Lead, support and empower team members
- Work with teams to ensure focus on goals and decisions in the best interest of Gardan, its employees and customers
- Communicate regularly with team members to provide status on various projects
- Meet regularly with team and other Leader/Coaches to jointly discuss and resolve production and employee issues
- Work with Human Resources on hiring, wages, evaluations and discipline of team members
- Determine and recommend training needs for self and team members
- Coordinate work schedules and absence requests to ensure proper coverage within the team and other teams
Customers
- Interact with customers to answer questions and address concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Participate in new job set-ups and gathering of required information
- Assist in the resolution of customer issues and implementation of changes
- Assist customer with Engineering Change Notices / New Development Engineering of product for improvement
Production Practices
- Obtain and communicate knowledge of products and processes
- Assist with determining equipment, tooling and space needs for production
- Assist in writing, training and implementation of accurate and clear work instructions
- Work with Production Coordinator to determine and satisfy scheduling requirements
- Assist teams with process analysis and effective and efficient set-up of new jobs
- Work with Maintenance to troubleshoot production issues
- Work with Quality & Safety Team to meet customer quality requirements
- Work with Quality & Safety Team to address internal safety issues, including prevention of accidents
- Read and follow bill of materials, routings, complex schematics/multi-level assembly drawings and work instructions
- Assist team members with research to identify quality specifications such as, but not limited to, crimp heights, pull test values, torque values and material identification
- Assist with Production process change initiatives
- Assist in production of products within the team
Materials
- Work with Materials and customers to insure optimal material costs, quantities, storage and handling practices
- Work with team members to conduct cycle counts and resolve discrepancies
- Work with teams and Material Handling Specialist to determine best practices for material movement within the work center
Space and Equipment
- Adhere to 5S practices
- Work with Maintenance to maintain equipment to prolong life, prevent accidents and minimize downtime
- Perform minor machine and/or mechanical adjustments in addition to basic machine change/switch over and preventative maintenance
HOURS AND TRAVEL
- This is an hourly full-time position with an expectation of 40 hours per week, unless agreed upon otherwise.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with flexibility to accommodate need for overtime and customer demand. Start time is flexible from 5:00 am to 8:00 am.
- Consistent start time is expected.
- Infrequent travel may be required.
