JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Receiving Checker
F L S A Status: Hourly
Work Schedule: Mon.-Fri.9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Start Date: ASAP
Reports to (primary): Receiving Manager
Reports to (secondary): Warehouse Manage
The primary responsibilities of the Receiving Checker is to Tally up and verify all inbound products into Garden State Cold Storage (GSCS). Essential Job Functions:
You must verify all information on the breakdowns or packing lists for all inbound loads to G S C S.
Count, tally, verify, label, stage and put-away all inbound products in a timely manner. Any inbound products should be completely put-away within the same day.
Written Tally’s are to be filled out entirely with no fields left empty.
Nothing should enter the freezer without a pallet ID.
One or more Receiving Checker(s) must be present during the opening of any truckload and/or container received into G S C S.
Discrepancies in counts or item descriptions should be discussed immediately with the salesperson handling that Customer.
Ensure that drivers are the only persons to back-up and open a container. No dock employees are to open container doors, by leaving the platform.
You are responsible for ensuring that the receiving office is neat and organized at all times.
Make sure that dock is kept clean at all times. Every night the dock should be left with no pallets and or garbage on the floor.
In regards to Food Safety, boxes and shrink-wrap are not to be placed on the bare floor. Never step on or climb on products.
Good pallets and bad pallets should be separated as the un-loaders work.
Ensure a sufficient amount of good pallets and shrink-wrap is kept on hand at all times. Notify management when pallets or shrink-wrap is needed.
Report and discuss any potential problems, concerns and/or ideas in writing to the Warehouse Manager or General Manager.
Know the Un-loader's Job Description.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
0-3 years’ experience in warehouse operations.
Licensed to use material/handling equipment.
Previous supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of freezer and warehouse equipment and operations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule
form.
Good interpersonal skills- having the ability to work with all types of people.
Excellent customer service skills.
Superior math skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift
and/or move up to 60 pounds.
The employee is required to operate machinery and/or equipment such as forklifts,
electric jacks, etc.
The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate machinery and/or heavy
equipment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject the following work environment:
The employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
The employee is working on a dock.
The employee is subject to extreme cold: temperatures typically between 35-40 degrees
Fahrenheit and occasionally may be exposed to temperatures of zero degrees Fahrenheit.
