Facilities Coordinator

Gardner-Webb University is looking to fill a full-time Facilities Coordinator position. This position is responsible for game day operations for all intercollegiate sports when hosting an event on campus or locally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and venue preparation for sporting events. Tear down following events. Set up may include tables, chairs, tents, bleachers, goals, banners, and flags. Each home sporting event has its own unique requirement.
• Oversight over all game day operations and serve as the event manager for the athletics department for those sports required by the Big South Conference.
• Serve as the liaison for all visiting teams upon their arrival, which includes identifying the visiting team's locker room and answering other questions that may arise.
• Coordinate the special needs for all home athletic events with the appropriate departments on campus, which may include Plant Operations, Housekeeping, Sound, and University Police.
• Communicate in a professional manner to faculty, staff, students, visitors, and co-workers.
• Paint game and practice fields for soccer, football and lacrosse; properly store and dispense all painting supplies.
• Maintain and repair when necessary, bleachers and other equipment used by the athletics department. If not capable of the repair, report maintenance needs to appropriate person.
• Fuel and maintain department gators and other vehicles as needed.
• Act as a liaison between Athletics Department and non-university groups using Gardner-Webb athletic facilities.
• Responsible for special cleaning of all athletic facilities.
• Make repairs to turf fields at football, baseball, and softball.
• When required, distribute supplies for visiting teams and oversees collection and/or cleaning after use.

Required Abilities:

• General knowledge of how to operate specific machines used to clean indoor court surfaces, paint machine, and all equipment used during an athletic event such as scoreboard, shot clock, etc.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to frequently and independently lift up to 25-pound items in a repetitive manner, and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds.
• No sensitivity to common construction materials.
• Ability to work in dusty and/or unconditioned spaces at times.
• Ability to work consistently for 2 hours completing common maintenance activities without breaks.
• Possess substantial range of motion to complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
• Ability to climb up to four flights of stairs carrying supplies and equipment.
