Overview
Garmin is looking for a Flight Path Support Specialist (Support Specialist, Aviation Services) to join our Airport Data Engineering team in Scottsdale, AZ. As an Flight Path Support Specialist, you'll make important contributions to our aircraft performance data products by analyzing data and feeding relevant information and solutions into our systems and databases used by aviators around the globe. The Flight Path Support Specialist is responsible for analyzing and reviewing permanent changes to flight paths and filtering pertinent information appropriately into an every-28-day data cycle. The Flight Path Support Specialist also plays an important role in communications to end users, providing explanations and education customers on our information, including why it meets regulatory requirements for aircraft performance.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Flight Path Support Specialist include:
- Analyzes incoming airport and runway data pertaining to permanent changes, and filters appropriate information to pilots through Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and our aircraft performance systems and databases
- Provides customer service, including advising and educating customers on our product, the flight path information provided, and explanation on how it meets regulatory requirements for aircraft performance
- Collaborates with airports, regulatory agencies and aviation data sources to ensure accuracy of information
- Performs detailed analysis on items such as characteristics of runways, obstacle information, and makes decisions on priority and pertinence of information as it relates to aircraft performance
- Designs flight path and engine failure procedures, and answers end-user questions pertaining to these paths and procedures
- Proactively identifies and reports issues, working to identify solutions to aircraft performance
- Establishes relationships and works collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin team members to achieve goals and objectives
- Provides weekly rotational on-call support, and on-call support as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess an Associate's Degree in business or technical discipline AND a minimum of 2 years experience working in the aviation or aerospace industry OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include:
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments
- Strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and posses the ability to interact effectively with customers around the globe
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Experience and proficiency with MS Office Suite
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in business or technical field
- Pilot's license
- Previous work experience in air traffic control or aircraft dispatcher
