What are the responsibilities and job description for the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer 2 position at Garmin?
Overview
Garmin is hiring Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designers who have experience in Cadence Allegro PCB Editor, for our office at our headquarters location in the Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with Product Design and Mechanical Engineers to produce complex PCB Designs, as well as setting up data for complex high speed designs.
Responsibilities
Other essential functions include:
- Demonstrate expert knowledge in PCB Design and Engineering processes
- Contribute to PCB Design process improvement projects
- Provide feedback to Design Engineers as needed to ensure manufacturability is maintained in each design
Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in each PCB Design
Independently determine general approach and provides reliable solutions to technical problems including work through complex issues as they appear in layouts
Collaborate and add value to engineering design reviews including collaborating with engineers on final designs
Contribute to determining feasibility of project goals/objectives
Test out tools introduced to the team
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology or related field AND 5 years relevant experience performing similar consumer electronics industry duties OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Allegro PCB Editor experience
High Speed (DDR 2,3,4) Board Design experience
ELIC (Every Layer Interconnect) multilayer board design experience
Microvia Capabilities for PCB (1-N-1 / 2-N-2)
Proficient use and thorough knowledge of PCB design “best practices” and design standards for surface mount and through hole designs
Demonstrate expert proficiency using eCAD tools
Ability to interpret basic design intent from schematics
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes
Relocation required to the Kansas City area
