West Side Leadership Academy PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Behavioral Support Coordinator position is established to reduce the amount of time that students are not receiving instruction. This position will focus on effective coping and conflict resolution skills. The Behavioral Support Coordinator will supervise and monitor students assigned to the In-School Suspension Program in an effort to improve students' academic performance and behavior.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supports all teachers in improving students' academic performance and help to increase students' ability to make good behavioral choices.
- Establishes positive rapport with all students and parents.
- Review in-school suspension policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily.
- Serves as in-school suspension teacher, advisor, mentor and counselor to students assigned to our program for violating school and / or classroom codes of conduct.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Work with students and / or staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student being assigned to ISS.
- Monitor all ISS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Facilitate student lunches and arrange delivery of when necessary.
- Remain with students in ISS at all times
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective working environment.
- All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees, administrators, parents and community partners. Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution.
CERTIFICATION
Bachelor's Degree required or Indiana certification as a teacher, counselor or social worker preferred.
