What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Team Member/Cashier position at Gather Juice Co.?
Gather Juice Co. is a cold pressed juice and smoothie bar opening soon downtown Puyallup. We’re looking for chill, fun people who want to actually enjoy coming to work to join our team and support our mission of making the world a happier, healthier place.
The position will be based in Tacoma temporarily until our Puyallup location opens. If you're not willing to work in Tacoma for a few months, this isn't the job for you.
What we’re looking for:
- Someone who regularly finds themselves in conversation with complete strangers for the pure enjoyment of connecting with others.
- Someone who’s into health and wellness. Not into it like you follow some brands on Instagram and tried going vegan for 3 days last year, but into it like you walk the talk, have an opinion, and often find yourself sharing what you do with others. Being into health and wellness has nothing to do with body type or body shape, just knowledge and interests.
- Someone who can be chill under pressure and is willing to try a little bit of everything. On any given day you might be chopping and juicing, cleaning, sharing your opinion on a new supplement or diet with customers, or curating the best possible Spotify playlist.
- Someone who’s a problem solver. When something inevitably goes wrong, are you the one who’s looking for your manager’s phone number to find out what to do or someone who others know will be the one to fix it?
- Someone who can reliably handle sharp objects without regularly hurting themselves.
- Someone with experience in restaurants or with customer service. We really prefer 2 years of restaurant/barista experience. Please be sure that experience is on your resume.
- Someone who wants an opportunity to grow with a company they believe in.
What’s in it for you:
- A job that’s fun and has meaning where you wouldn’t rather lay down in front of a riding lawnmower than go to work.
- The chance to connect with cool, like minded people and to learn and grow.
- Work/life balance. We know that no matter how much you love your job, you work to live rather than live to work. We want to be flexible and to allow you time to take all the cool opportunities that the universe throws in your path. That means flexible scheduling, paid time off, and some holiday closures.
- Free food.
- Reimbursement for yoga or gym membership or meditation app.
How to get an interview:
- Complete the assessments as soon as possible. We review applications regularly and will begin scheduling interviews with those with completed assessments who meet all our other criteria pretty quickly. If you haven't completed an assessment within 7 days of applying, we'll consider that to mean you're not interested and we'll reject your application.
- Be sure you have an really-specific resume rather than one uploaded in Word format.
- Wait for us to contact you. Please don't call the shop, stop by with a resume, etc. The team is busy an it makes life harder when we have to stop and answer the phone or take a resume rather than making orders and talking with customers. We know, this goes against all the traditional knowledge on how to get an interview, but we promise you it's what we prefer.
- If you want to set yourself apart, write a quick cover letter via really to let us know why you're interested in the job.
The fine print:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year restaurant, food service, sales or retail experience is a big plus.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including some early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. We have roughly 20 hours available currently with the opportunity for more hours in the future.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop and regularly lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to pass a background check. We all make mistakes, if there’s something in your past you’re not super proud of, don’t let it stop you from applying but be ready to talk to us about it honestly.
- Ability to multitask and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast-paced environment without freaking out.
- We totally understand the assessments related to this job might not be the most fun to complete. You might even have opinions on whether the assessments accurately measure what they say they're measuring. We have some opinions too. We'd just like to see the demonstration of effort in completing them and will not consider candidates who have not completed the assessments for this reason.
- We would really appreciate if you'd build an really-specific resume rather than uploading a Word or PDF file.
- Please note that, because we take hiring very seriously, the interview process for this job consists of 3 separate interviews: a quick 1st interview to get to know you a little better, a slightly longer 2nd interview to learn about your work experience and how you can positively contribute to the team, and a 3rd working interview. We only move candidates that we're serious about to the next step in each interview round. We understand that's not an insignificant commitment on your part and if you're not up for it we ask that you refrain from submitting your application.
- We promise we'll see your resume if you upload it here. Please DO NOT drop your resume off in person at the shop. We'll definitely lose it immediately.
