Job Purpose
GC Therapeutics is seeking a talented and highly motivated scientistfor our neuroscience program. The successful candidate will play a central role in advancing GC Therapeutics' neuroscience pipeline by leading the design and execution of in vitro and in vivo studies. The role demands hands-on experimental work with rodents, strategic project planning, regulatory support, and cross-functional collaboration to accelerate therapeutic development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement in vitro and in vivo studies to support data-driven decision-making and rapid pipeline advancement.
- Perform rodent handling, dosing, necropsy, CNS tissue collection, processing, histological analysis, and imaging; manage genetic analysis and colony maintenance.
- Perform cell cultures and associated molecular biology and cell-based assays to characterize cell product.
- Generate, analyze, and interpret preclinical data; communicate findings clearly and promptly to supervisors and project teams.
- Oversee both GLP and non-GLP studies internally and through CROs; act as the primary liaison with external vendors to ensure scientific rigor and on-time deliverables.
- Participate in KOL interactions, contribute to indication prioritization and competitive landscape assessments.
- Contribute to drafting the nonclinical sections of regulatory submissions (e.g., INDs).
- Help establish and maintain IACUC protocols and ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, summarize findings, and prepare presentations for internal meetings.
- Stay current with emerging literature in neuroscience, cell therapy, and assay technologies, and proactively recommend innovative approaches to drive research program advancement
- Collaborate effectively within the research team and across GC Therapeutics to achieve strategic goals.
- Consistently adhere to laboratory safety procedures and company policies.
Essential Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, cell biology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral laboratory experience in academic or industry settings
- Proficiency in stereotaxic surgery for mono- or multifocal CNS injections in rodents.
- Skilled in CNS tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy.
- Able to manage tasks independently while collaborating with junior staff and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to strategically map data gaps and guide IND-enabling studies with scientific foresight.
- Proficient in the analysis, documentation, and communication of complex data sets; capable of preparing detailed scientific reports.
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills to manage timelines and deliverables.
- Comfortable spending ~75% of time performing lab-based work, including occasional weekend hours.
- Proficient in in vitro cell culture techniques, general molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA and RNA extraction, and PCR), assay development and troubleshooting. Experience with iPSC culture is a plus. Proficient in in vitro cell culture, molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR), and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry. Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record and strong publications in neuroscience, animal work and preclinical studies within the industry.
- Expertise in cell therapy, and routes of administration for preclinical animal models of disease.
